First time caller, Long time listener
One of my oldest friends is visiting me here on this island this week. We have been friends for over 10 years so that is old for me because I keep moving around. Ireland has been my home for over 3 years and that is sort of a record - considering it comes with a job that has lasted that long as well. I have always followed the philosophy of "leaving them wanting more" and that pretty much took me through my 20's and half way through my 30's ... Then I got into gardening and got tired of going to new employee orientation (aka corporate brainwashing) sessions. Maybe I am just getting older.
Ok, back to "Road" visiting (I find calling her "road" a little weird but she assures me this is blog etiquette). Road tells me that I have to start blogging because I basically talk in blogs. Once the concept has been explained to me (actually, haven't we always kept journals?), I was eager. So, dear reader, allow me my growing pains as I try to enter this community with some semblance of grace. I hope I can be as entertaining as I have found yours to be. My newly adopted corner of the world is much smaller than where I have come from but it has had so many surprises and delights that I can't wait to share them.
Road and I were in my local pub last night (just call it your "local" - people here always know you are talking about the pub). It is a shack with a corrugated tin roof. I am not sure what the real name is but everyone knows it as the tin pub. It is in the middle of nowhere (please see map to locate nowhere) or it is in the middle of heaven on earth (please see picture to get what I am talking about).
There were 3 people in it, including the bartender, Tom. Road and I plus Fergus my dog made it 6. We were talking, I was complaining about having fallen into a bunch of nettles (a blog in and of itself) and Tom, not knowing the blog fans in his presence, said, "You should blog that."
Ok Tom. I will.
